County Executive Nominees For Board Of Registration For Building Contractors Confirmed By Council

UPPER MARLBORO, MD - October 1, 2008 - (RealEstateRama) — Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson’s nominees for the Board of Registration for Building Contractors were confirmed today by the County Council. 

“These individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this board,” Johnson said.  “I am confident they will work well together to accomplish their duties.”

The Board of Registration for Building Contractors provides for the licensing and regulation of residential building contracts within Prince George’s County. The board is authorized to administer the granting, denial, revocation and suspension of licenses.  They also develop standards for the grating, renewal, denial, revocation or suspension of such licenses.

County Council Chairman Samuel Dean, Raymond Halleran, Ernest Njaba, Sean O’Day, Charles Renninger, Jamal Smith and Shane Warren were all sworn in immediately following the confirmation hearing.

A resident of Mitchellville, Dean was elected to the County Council in 2002 and he currently serves as Chairman.  He is a former federal government employee, where he worked as a Senior Human Resources Manager.  He also served in the Air Force for 10 years.  Dean holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Technology from the University of Maryland, University College Will.  He will serve as the county council representative.

Halleran, a resident of Bowie, is the Vice President of Land Acquisition for Mid-Atlantic Builders, a company that manufactures luxury homes in Prince George’s County.  He is a licensed real estate agent and he will serve as an Industry Member.

A resident of Lanham, Njaba is a Principal Engineer with Geotechnical Consulting and Testing, Inc.  He holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Howard University.  He is a registered professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia and D.C.  He will serve as an Industry Member.

O’Day, a resident of Ft. Washington, holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Maryland.  He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Washington Building Congress.  He will serve as an Industry Member.

A resident of Largo, Renninger holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland.  He will serve as a Non-Industry Member.

Smith, a resident of Largo, works as a consultant with the Washington Management Group where he assists clients with federal government contract proposals.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morgan State University.  He will serve as a Non-Industry Member.

A resident of Upper Marlboro, Warren, is the President of Warren General Construction, a company that manufactures residential and commercial buildings.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from The George Washington University.  He is the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of the Minority Building Industry. He will serve as an Industry Member.
