Free Workshop Planned to Help Residents Facing Foreclosure
August 22, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Montgomery County’s Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and the City of Gaithersburg will co-host HomeFree-USA’s free workshop on Saturday, August 27, to assist persons faced with possible mortgage foreclosures. The workshop will take place at 610 East Diamond Avenue, Gaithersburg.
Individuals may register for one of two sessions. The first session will be from noon to 2 p.m. and the second from 2 to 4 p.m. Information will be provided about the State’s Emergency Mortgage Assistance (EMA) Program designed to help homeowners who have lost income due to involuntary unemployment or medical problems and have fallen behind on mortgage payments. Funding for the program is limited and applications should be submitted as soon as possible.

This is an excellent idea! It can be implemented nation-wide. Perhaps the organization could extend its assistance by also working with legal entities to influence banks to work directly with borrowers on the first sign of trouble.
