In a strong turnaround from the previous month, there was a 12.1 percent surge in home sales in August, according to the Maryland Association of REALTORS®, (MAR). While there were declines in smaller rural markets, overall most counties had strong sales activity. Cardin, Mikulski Announce $700,000 in Federal Funds to Improve Rail Infrastructure in Baltimore County

MIKULSKI ANNOUNCES $20 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDS FOR MAJOR TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS IN MARYLAND
Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) today announced that the Maryland Department of Transportation and Montgomery County will each be awarded $10,000,000 in federal funding for improvements along North Avenue in the City of Baltimore and US 29 Bus Rapid Transit Corridor. Senator Mikulski is the Vice Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which funds the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and these annual Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants.
The Charles County Department of Public Works would like to remind citizens that the next household hazardous waste collection will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3. The household hazardous waste collection site is located in the parking lot of the Department of Public Works building, located at 10430 Audie Lane, off of Radio Station Road in La Plata. Collection hours are 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
