Congressman Roscoe Bartlett Shares Constituents’ Anger that Marylanders Who Lost Electricity Must Pay Surcharges to Some Power Companies

-

Washington, DC – July 12, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Roscoe Bartlett responded today on behalf of many angry constituents who contacted him to complain after learning from media reports that they will be forced to pay a surcharge to BGE and PEPCO in addition to losing electricity for days after recent thunder storms amidst a historic 11-day heat wave.

Congressman Bartlett said, “Forcing home owners and business owners to pay BGE and PEPCO for NO power adds insult to the injury they already suffered from the recent electricity outages. Maryland’s Public Service Commission should prevent rather than permit these outrageous surcharges on BGE and PEPCO bills. I don’t understand why the Governor of Maryland didn’t protect Maryland residents from these unfair surcharges as his colleagues in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia did for their residents.”
