Boustany Announces FEMA Funding for Saint Mary Levee District

Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced $25,887,261 in grant funding for the state of Louisiana. Specifically, $3,522,954 will be awarded to the Saint Mary Levee District to provide emergency reinforcement and protection to levees and other infrastructure in the wake of the flooding event that began on December 28, 2015.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Scheduled for Nov. 5

The Charles County Department of Public Works would like to remind citizens that the next household hazardous waste collection will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5. The household hazardous waste collection site is located in the parking lot of the Department of Public Works building, located at 10430 Audie Lane, off of Radio Station Road in La Plata. Collection hours are 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Boustany Announces Disaster Recovery Funding for Louisiana Communities

Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $437,800,000 to the State of Louisiana for communities that experienced significant damage in recent flooding. The funds are provided through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program.


The month of September revealed continued steady sales with a 6.3 percent rise in home sales, according to the Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR).  Once again, the smaller rural counties posted declines while the more populated areas had strong sales. Average and median prices made modest gains statewide, with increases of 0.2 and 3.8 percent respectively, as compared to September 2015.
